Ramadan Tent Walk

Yesterday few friends of mine , supporters and srdf team walked from Hyde Park Corner to Ramadan Tent at SOAS University to raise awareness and funds for Somalia.

Ramadan Tent is a project spearheaded by Omar Salha Phd student at SOAS University and sponsored by Somali Relief & Development Forum. It aims to create great community cohesion by inviting students, staff, homeless and public at large for free Iftar. This is where you discover what Ramadan really means to you. If you have not yet been and you live in London then make sure you visit Ramadan tent at 8:30pm every night of Ramadan.

Back to my walk, the weather was in our favour and after a quick brief about the aim of the walk and introducing ourselves we set off with smile and enthusiasm.

We got to know each other and shared endless intellectual chats and laughter. We had people taking part in the walk from all background. Algeria, Somalia, India, Turkey, Iran and many more. These souls were awesome to give up their Sunday for a great cause.

We reached Ramadan Tent at 8 pm after an hour and half walk. Due to the expected rain and because the grass were wet, the Ramadan tent was hosted inside SOAS. It was a great turn out. Almost 100 people attended. It was an amazing gathering filled with sharing and love.

You can still invest in Somalia today by sponsoring us at https://www.justgiving.com/Sam-Walk-to-RamadanTent/

Ok, just had some food and got to go and pray the morning prayer as fasting has just begun. Excited and hope to make the most of the last ten days of Ramadan.

Stay blessed people
